€10,000 Cash Boost For Racing Home for Easter Festival

North Cork Independent Cllr. John Paul O’ Shea has announced that Mallow’s Racing Home for Easter Festival 2014 is to receive a cash boost of €10,000 from Cork County Council’s Economic Development Fund. The Racing Home for Easter festival is all about encouraging those who grew up in the Blackwater Valley region but who have since left, to return home to Mallow and Cork for Easter and enjoy all the activities and festivities the town has to offer as well as encouraging local residents and visiting tourists to participate and enjoy. The three day festival coincides with the traditional Easter racing meeting at Cork Racecourse Mallow, where there’s a great combination of National Hunt racing and flat racing to be enjoyed. Commenting on the allocation of funding, Cllr. O’ Shea said “The festival, since its establishment in 2010 has provided a much needed annual boost to the economy of North Cork and the wider Blackwater Valley. This funding which will be used to market Mallow as the town to be in this Easter for its annual Racing Home for Easter Festival. An additional feature to the wide selection of activities and events is that the festival will be centred in the grounds of Mallow Castle which was purchased by Cork County Council in 2010. Mallow Juvenile GAA Notes 25/02/14

Registration Evening Registration for ALL players takes place this Friday 28th February from 6.30-8.30pm in Mallow G.A.A. Complex.   New players born in 2007 and before are welcome.  Registration is €50 per child, €80 for two children and €100 for three or more children.  Payment for registration on the night is by cash or cheque (payable to St. Mary’s Juvenile GAA) or we can arrange an installment payment plan to spread the cost. Mallow juvenile GAA notes 12/2/14

There were no league matches played in the central division last weekend following a decision taken at the Rebel Og central meeting on Wednesday, so it was very quiet action wise. Our annual church gate collection will take place at Mallow masses this weekend. Please contribute if you can as every little helps. Mallow Juvenile GAA Notes 6/2/14

Mallow Fe 13 footballers put in a fine spirited display in this Premier 1 league tie in a very blustery Carrigoon last Sunday against a strong physical Bishopstown team.  Bishopstown had the advantage of the wind in the first half and made full use of it,building  a commanding lead at the half time break. Mallow staged a great fightback in the second half with a great gutsy display, but ultimately came up short.  It was a great show of commitment and determination from the lads and we look forward with enthusiasm to our next game on the 15th of February...
