Mallow Clean Up Day – March 27th

MALLOW CLEAN UP DAY

27TH MARCH, 2010

Mallow Chamber of Commerce

Mallow Chamber of Commerce

As part of preparations for this year’s Festival and in co-operation with Mallow Tidy Towns the 27th March is Clean Up Day.

We are encouraging all businesses to take part.  Local organisations such as Mallow Chamber, Mallow G.A.A. and The Rotary Club will be doing a street clean.

We would ask all Shops and Businesses to make an extra effort to help with the clean up.  Recent I.B.A.L. figures show Mallow at the bottom of the list.  We know we are not a dirty town so lets make an effort to move up the table!

Mallow Chamber President.

A message from the Festival Committee:

“Welcome to Mallow’s brand new Festival which is anchored around three days of great racing in the heart of the beautiful Blackwater Valley, where National Hunt racing has a long and proud tradition. As a hub town we wish to promote Mallow as an important tourist destination, for more information on Mallow visit www.mallow.ie. The town itself will be in festive mood for theweekend with a range of activities and events which will cater for all interests and age groups.

A very special welcome to Mallow people home from abroad, to people from other parts of Ireland and to all the tourists visiting us for the first time,we really hope your stay in the Mallow area is a very enjoyable one. To the locals we say – come out and support the festival, enjoy yourselves and help to establish Racing Home for Easter as a permanent feature in the national calendar of events and festivals. We hope you will marvel at the first class racing, sample the craic, meet people and come back to an even bigger and better festival next year.”

Printed programs can be found around town – drop into Sprialli Web Design and Development in the Shopping Arcade for a copy if you’re walking by. You can also find more information at www.corkracecourse.ie or www.mallow.ie

The New Food Capital of Cork?

Have you noticed the number of food establishments we have in Mallow at the moment? The restaurant trade seems to be one of the few that is blooming recently. We have a clutter of cafes, a ton of takeaways, a batallion of bistros and a rabble of restaurants. Food quality varies from adequate to exquisite, but there really doesn’t seem to be a bad apple in the basket.

My most recent experience in one of the Italian restaurants was an eye-opener. We had to wait for a table, and there was a queue in reception for the duration of our visit. Having said that the service was friendly and relaxed, and at no time did we feel pressured to eat up and get out. It was, in essence, a great dining experience.

So what’s Kinsale got that Mallow doesn’t have? Higher prices for starters…
